Growing up we ate a lot of pork because my dad raised hogs and would butcher one every year.  My mom was always looking for good recipes that used pork, and she found this recipe in a farm magazine back in the 70s.  My dad fell in love with this stew, and so did the rest of the family.  I am right back to my childhood on the farm whenever I eat this.

The seasoning on the pork and the bay leaves in the broth give this a really special flavor. You can use any cut of pork that you prefer.  My mom always made homemade bread to serve with the stew, but I usually serve with fresh biscuits.

Recipe Ingredients

Boneless Pork. This is the main protein source and the star ingredient of the stew.

Salt. Enhances the overall flavor of the stew and helps to season the pork and other ingredients.

Sugar. Balances the flavors and helps to add a touch of sweetness to the stew.

Paprika. Adds a subtle smoky and slightly spicy flavor to the stew.

Pepper. Adds a bit of heat and enhances the overall flavor profile.

Vegetable Oil: Used for sautéing the pork and onions, providing fat for cooking and adding flavor.

Medium Onion. Provides flavor and adds sweetness to the stew.

Garlic Clove. Adds a pungent and savory flavor to the stew.

Lemon Juice. Adds a tangy and bright flavor to balance the richness of the stew.

Worcestershire Sauce. Adds depth of flavor, umami notes, and a touch of tanginess to the stew.

Bay Leaves. Infuse the stew with a subtle herbal aroma and flavor.

Chicken Stock. Provides the liquid base for the stew and adds depth of flavor.

Carrots. Adds sweetness, texture, and vibrant color to the stew.

French-cut Green Beans. Adds a crunchy texture and green color to the stew.

Corn. Adds a touch of sweetness and adds texture to the stew.

Cornstarch. Used as a thickening agent to create a thicker consistency for the stew.

Overall, these ingredients work together to create a flavorful and well-balanced pork stew with tender meat, a savory broth, and a variety of vegetables.
